Physical Therapists

Ryan Zumwalt, Pt, DPT (Owner)

Dr. Zumwalt is the Owner and Operator of Lighthouse Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine. He graduated summa cum laude with his pre-medical degree in Biomedical Science from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. 

Following his undergraduate degree, he earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Midwestern University, where he graduated at the top of his class. Since graduating, he has undergone extensive training in TMJ rehab, sports-related concussions, and sports-related orthopedic injuries. 

Before founding Lighthouse, Dr. Zumwalt worked as a member of the medical team for the Seattle Mariners. He has also served as an Associate Professor of Musculoskeletal Pathology at Midwestern University. 

Dr. Zumwalt was a Division 1 Wrestler for California State Fullerton and a multiple-time All-American in his respective sport. When not treating patients or running Lighthouse, you can find Dr. Zumwalt lifting weights, hiking, and enjoying time with his family.

Cale Nichols

Cale Nichols, PT, DPT, COMT, OCS

Dr. Nichols graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2013 with honors and a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science. He then pursued physical therapy at Northern Arizona and earned his doctorate in 2017, graduating at the top of his class with distinction. 

Since receiving his doctorate, Dr. Nichols has treated all musculoskeletal conditions and orthopedic injuries, ranging from post-operative recovery and joint replacements to spine dysfunction, TMJ, vestibular training, and everything in between. He has pursued extensive post-doctoral education, obtaining his COMT (Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist) in 2018 and sitting for the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist Exam (OCS) in 2021. While treating all conditions, Dr. Nichols has a particular enjoyment of and specializes in treating ACL reconstructions, long-distance runners, and soccer players. 

Dr. Nichols has also been a clinical instructor for doctoral students for several years and has served as an adjunct faculty at Northern Arizona University’s physical therapy program. When not in the clinic, you can find Dr. Nichols traveling, running, and backpacking with his dog Boomer.

Benjamin Porter, DPT

With a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science, Dr. Porter brings a diverse skill set and background to this esteemed practice. In his work as a personal trainer, he helps everyone from high school students to professional athletes optimize their performance and health. 

Dr. Porter maintains certification in several different techniques, having worked everywhere from nursing facilities to sports rehabilitation centers. He also loves spending time outside, showcasing his various musical talents, and traveling around the world.

Steven Cordovana

Steven Cordovana, DPT

All the way from Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Cordovana believes everyone has an “inner athlete,” even if that’s just the strength enough to play with their grandchildren. He loves the opportunities to treat an impressive variety of conditions, such as: 

  • Surgical repairs
  • Joint replacements
  • Neurological conditions
  • Concussions

Dr. Cordovana enjoys most outdoor activities. You’ll usually find him hiking, backpacking, or snowboarding around Spokane Valley on the weekends. He also enjoys weightlifting, cheering on the Spokane Indians, and spending time with his partner and German Shepherd.

Dakotah Roach, PTA

Dakotah is a Physical Therapist Assistant who was born and raised in Spokane, WA. He studied at Spokane Falls Community College and graduated in 2022 with his Physical Therapist Assistant associate degree. 

He enjoys orthopedics and helping people achieve their goals. When not in the clinic, he spends his time with his wife and kids, auto detailing, and riding dirt bikes!

Peter Hampshire, LMT

An Oregon native, Peter’s skills lie in body mechanics and mobility. He graduated at the top of his class and has maintained his certification as a personal trainer for over 10 years. 

His techniques emphasize neck, lower-back, and knee pain treatments through expert massage and corrective exercises. Outside of office hours, you’ll find him snowboarding and playing rugby.
