Serving Our Community and Partners in 2025

The Lighthouse Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine mission extends beyond providing exceptional care; we are dedicated to being a supportive neighbor and healing partner within the Spokane community.

As we look ahead to 2025, we are excited to continue to collaborate with our Spokane and Spokane Valley community partners and introduce new initiatives that benefit our local student-athletes and residents across our convenient physical therapy locations.

Physical Therapy Partnerships with Spokane High Schools

We take pride in our strong community ties, particularly through our partnerships with local high school sports in Spokane, WA. These important collaborations make it possible for us to provide specialized support and care to the local area’s student-athletes, helping them perform at their best while staying safe and healthy.

University High School and Ridgeline High School

Our commitment to University High School and Ridgeline High School goes beyond medical care. Lighthouse Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine believes in being active members of our community, and we are proud to participate in a variety of events and initiatives at both schools.

Dedicated Athletic Trainers

Our diverse, specialized team at Lighthouse Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine is trusted every year to support the athletic programs at University High School and Ridgeline High School through our dedicated team of full-time athletic trainers (ATCs). Our ATCs are an essential part of these schools’ athletic programs, working tirelessly to ensure the well-being of every student-athlete.

Key Roles of Our Spokane Athletic Trainers:

  • Injury Assessment: Our ATCs provide thorough evaluations of injuries sustained by student-athletes during practices and games, ensuring quick and accurate diagnoses.
  • Rehabilitation: After an injury, our trainers guide athletes through personalized rehabilitation programs, designed to help them recover safely and return to their sport as quickly as possible.
  • Emergency On-Field Care: During games and practices, our ATCs are always on hand to deliver immediate care when injuries occur, providing critical support in those high-stress moments.

Collaboration with Sports Medicine Experts

In addition to the exceptional care provided by our athletic trainers, Lighthouse Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine is led by Dr. Ryan Zumwalt, a renowned specialist in sports medicine and sport injury rehab. Dr. Zumwalt works closely with our ATCs to offer enhanced care to the athletes at University and Ridgeline High Schools.

Injury Clinics and Preventive Education:

  • Injury Clinics: Dr. Zumwalt provides expert guidance through specialized injury clinics, where athletes can receive detailed evaluations and physical therapy services tailored to their specific injuries. These clinics are an essential resource for athletes looking for quick recovery and targeted care.
  • Preventive Education: Beyond injury clinics, Dr. Zumwalt also conducts sports injury prevention classes for both coaches and student-athletes. These sessions focus on teaching proper techniques, strengthening exercises, and best practices to minimize the risk of injury, ensuring the long-term health and success of the athletes.

Spokane Community Involvement and Support

Our commitment to University High School and Ridgeline High School goes beyond medical care. We believe in being active members of our Spokane community, and we are proud to participate in a variety of events and initiatives at both schools.

From sponsoring local sports events to volunteering at school functions, LHPT strives to give back to the community that supports us.

Looking to the Year (and Opportunities) Ahead
